Terry Nitman MCIOB - Director
Terry is a chartered builder. He has been in the construction industry since 1980, originally training with James Longley & Co of Crawley. He has developed and progressed his career locally in a variety of roles and has extensive experience in all types of construction and procurement methods.
Terry was an area director for a national plc before joining Cheesmur where he is responsible for the strategic development and day to day running of the business.

 


Steve Hayman MCIOB, MRICS - Director
Steve is a chartered surveyor and chartered builder and is also a member of the RICS Sussex Branch Committee. He has extensive experience in high quality construction both in Britain and overseas including royal palaces, 5 star hotels and embassies abroad. In addition he has completed contracts at the Royal Pavilion, Hilton Metropole Hotel and a number of executive apartment blocks here in Sussex.
Steve has also led on many successful partnering projects with clients using design and build, two stage tender and traditional forms of procurement, incorporating sustainable and modern methods of construction.

 

Mark O'Hara FCA - Director

Mark is a Chartered Accountant with more than 25 years’ experience across a broad spectrum of industries and financial disciplines, the vast majority at board level. He particularly specialises in corporate finance and information systems in the SME space and also has international experience, having lived in Hong Kong for a number of years. In 2010, Mark was shortlisted for Real Business Magazine’s Private Company FD of the Year for his work at CBC.

 


Jason Wickenden MCIOB - Contracts Manager
Jason is a Chartered Builder, having been educated to honours degree level in the discipline of building engineering and management. With over 15 years’ experience in the construction industry, rising from site engineer, through site manager to the current position of contracts manager, which he has held for some 8 years with a number of main contractors. Experience has been diverse, with involvement in the education and health sectors, through to private and social housing developments, coastal defence works, alongside commercial factory units, all constructed with a variety of building techniques including modern methods of construction. Project ranging in value from several hundred thousand pounds to in excess of £5m, working alongside the project surveyors and site managers to ensure projects are delivered to the clients exacting standards; programme and budget constraints.

 

 

Nick Hallewell - Contracts Manager (Facilities/Build)
Nick has undertaken a variety of roles in the construction industry during the last 30 years since gaining his ONC and HND in Building Construction, including setting up and managing his own building company. Nick has worked at Cheesmur for over 10 years and his current role is as Contracts Manager for the Facilities and Build Teams, working with a number of our key clients including East Sussex County Council (ESCC), East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service (ESFRS), Sussex Police, East Sussex NHS Trust and Sussex Housing & Care. Nick is also the primary point of contact for our 24 hours emergency call-out service.

 


David Bennett MCIOB - Senior Estimator
David been in the industry for over 27 years working for local, regional and national contractors and developers.
David has full experience in Estimating, Surveying, and Contract Management working on all aspects of the industry incorporating both traditional and Design & Build Contracts.
 

 

Kirsty Green - Facilities Manager
Kirsty is a qualified surveyor and has been in the industry for 20 yrs, her primary role is as Facilities Manager looking after the term maintenance agreements with a number of our key customers including ESCC, ESFRS, Sussex Police, East Sussex NHS Trust and Sussex Housing & Care.

 


Barry Shipp - Materials Buyer
Barry has been in the Construction industry for just over 47 years, starting as a Sales Clerk with a local building materials supplier and progressing to become Sales Manager. After 25 years he left and worked for two Sussex based large construction companies working on various projects in Southern England including the Millenium Seed Bank, Ardingly, Mottisfont Abbey, Romsey and Gatwick Park Hospital.
Barry joined Cheesmur in February 2010 as Materials Buyer. He is responsible for all materials purchasing for the company as well as negotiating and maintaining good trading relationships with our Supply Chain.


James Field MAAT- Finance Manager
James brings to Cheesmur a wealth of experience in a variety of disciplines. Having studied at Portsmouth, James spent 16 years in various retail and leisure management positions, the highlight of which was the running of a successful franchise for a multi-national oil company.
In 2006 James returned to his early training and spent 2 years rediscovering his talents as an accounts assistant for a large pharmaceutical company before joining Cheesmur in 2008. Since then James has taken on all the aspects of the accounting function and is now occupies the position of Finance Manager.
James is also a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians and is currently studying towards his accountancy qualification with the ACCA.

 

Jamie Myles - Project Manager
Jamie is an experienced construction professional, joining Cheesmur in 2009 after working for a number of the larger local contractors. As a result of his wide experience he has been able to bring his expertise to a number of roles, including the preparation and submission of tenders ranging in value from 50,000 to 1.5 million and after care customer services. Since May 2010 he has successfully completed a number of sensitive high profile projects in his position as Projects Manager. In this role he has been able to combine his skills as surveyor and contracts manager, enjoying the diversity of the challenges presented in this role.


Lisa Downey - Administrative support
Lisa is the office administrator and receptionist, providing administrative support across the business. Having previously worked for Parker Pen in Newhaven for over 20 years, Lisa brings her wealth of experience and outgoing personality to Cheesmur.
