Broadlands, Thakeham

Following an extended and rigorous contractor selection process by the Clients and their professional team, the demolition of the existing building was started by Cheesmur in November 2010 in order to make way for the construction of a new two storey sustainable four bedroom dwelling, comprising five bathrooms, a main living area, dining, kitchen, family room and study.

The project comprised an external insulation render system, combined with thermally massive masonry and concrete, combined with the south-westerly facing triple glazed external windows and doors which contributed to achieving the Clients brief to ensure a Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 rating was achieved.

Further added benefits include a green roof, photo-voltaic energy generation, solar-thermal hot water and ground -source heat pumps achieving a reduced reliance on national grid energy consumption.
