Salvington Lodge Scheme

The £4.1m refurbishment of the Salvington Lodge wards at the Swandean Hospital Site in Worthing

Cheesmur were selected to work with the Client and their team to refurbish all five upper wings of the Salvington Lodge Building.

Working in a “live” environment where some parts of the wards were in constant use, Cheesmur carefully stripped back and fitted out every room in the building ensuring that they were suitable for the needs of the NHS.  The works entailed the complete replacement of the Mechanical & Electrical installation, MVHR, new access control systems, internal communication systems, fire suppression facilities and all internal fixtures & fittings.

With patients living on the floor below, all works were time and noise critical so the Build Team had to constantly consider the sensitivities of those occupying rooms only a few metres away.

Utilizing the knowledge of the Trust and with consistent close collaboration with the Client’s specialist Design Team the scheme was an absolute success with the building now ready to return to full occupation and become a key part of the service offering for the next 25 years.
