Following a late client decision to proceed with the scheme Cheesmur were approached to negotiate an open book Design and Build Contract whilst the Client design team were developing the design to provide additional study space in recently vacated areas adjacent to the University Library. Our team was able to offer significant design, materials and buildability input and a price was agreed which was within the Client budget, yet achieved key programme deliverables, including the supply, installation and commissioning of a new air handling unit. This programme was based on completion for occupation at the start of the new academic year and we are pleased to confirm that this date was achieved whilst accommodating the challenges associated with working next to a library which remains open for 24 hours a day, 364 days a year.
