Wiston Estate

August 2, 2020

The Wiston Estate has been owned and managed by the Goring family since 1743. Its 6,000 acres straddle the chalky slopes of the South Downs and the flat clay soils of the Weald. Sussex beef herds, grazing sheep and arable crops have been part of the Estate's landscape for centuries, but it was not until recently that the ancient Roman idea of planting vineyards in Sussex became a reality for Wiston. As a part of the extensive upgrading works being carried out across this busy and successful vineyard estate, Cheesmur have been appointed to provide refurbishment and alterations to the existing winery, construction of a new wine store, refurbishment of an existing barn and cow shed and all associated external works, including drainage, groundworks and a new courtyard. We’re looking forward to the celebrations once the works are completed!
