Our team’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and social value was recently recognised with two major regional awards.

We are incredibly proud to announce that Cheesmur has received the South Downs Learning Trust Award, in recognition of our work facilitating multiple workplace visits for students over the past year. Additionally, we were honoured with the East Sussex Careers Support Award, presented by East Sussex County Council, for our dedication to delivering meaningful careers guidance and support across the county.

This social value initiative is passionately led by Cheesmur’s Estimating Director, Dan Hayman, who works closely alongside local schools and colleges to inspire young people to explore the diverse range of opportunities available within the construction industry.

Speaking on the recent award wins, Dan commented:

For years, we have consistently championed youth development through community initiatives. From hosting Year 8 students from Ratton School for our Industry Open Doors events, to sharing hands-on industry insights at The Big Futures Show, our team is always eager to give back. Whether it’s our team delivering engaging career assemblies at local institutions like Chailey School or hosting our annual work experience weeks, we remain deeply committed to giving students the practical exposure they need to understand the dynamic range of careers our industry holds.
